Living for nothing but Jesus

We saw nearly everything we owned being carried off last week. Now we have little left and have been surprised by the joy of simplicity. Not that anything is ever quite that simple. The Lord likes to stretch our faith by eleventh hour intervention.

This time it wasn't just eleventh hour but 11.59! We were desperate to leave Devon with house sold, and everything done and dusted. We constantly cried out to Him and sometimes just cried. Then as we opened the doors of the cars to drive off for the last time, the mobile went with confirmation of sales and a done deal.

The Psalmists have been a great source of comfort to us. They yell at God, and He doesn't mind. At various times we too gave Him a large piece of our minds, seasoned with a fair bit of sulking and not a little doubt. But at the end of the day, like the Psalmists, we just about hung on to all the Lord had done and promised, and all we knew to be true, and of course He came good yet again.

Now while in the UK, we live in a tiny apartment on the outskirts of London, and have more practical and financial freedom just to go for Jesus. And go we will. Sometimes we crave normality, but only sometimes. Most of the time we thrive on the freedom Christ alone brings... albeit often with seconds to spare.
